Many of our parish organizations are actively involved with outreach both in volunteers and financially. Moreover, St. Luke's participates in the following:
The T.R.U.E. Fund (Towards the Relief of Urgent Emergencies) was founded by an Episcopal social worker who encountered many in dire need of immediate help not provided quickly enough by social agencies. T.R.U.E. Funds are collected and administered by the local parish. In budget year 2001, St. Luke's collected approximately $11,000. |

Shower Ministry
| This ministry was borne out of concern for the homeless in our area and how St. Luke’s might provide them even the slightest of human kindnesses and understanding. Weekly on Saturdays St. Luke’s opens the Parish Hall and provides shower facilities for the homeless in the area. In addition, the church gives out items of clothing, i.e., socks, underwear, t-shirts, warm shirts and pants. Each visitor is also given a small bag with personal hygiene items that they may use and take with them. This has grown in the past few years and the outreach program of “Feeding Our Neighbors” was begun based on the continuing needs of the homeless community. Volunteers and donated items are greatly appreciated. Please contact the church office if you are interested in helping with this ministry. | ![]() |
Prayer Shawl Ministry
| Begun as a comfort and spiritual support program by ladies in the Daughters of the King, this ministry has grown to encompass many in and outside St. Luke’s. Prayer Shawls are knitted or crocheted then donated to the St. Luke’s Shawl Collection to be blessed by our Rector then given out on hospital visits, home bound visits and to those friends of parishioners who may need the extra comfort, both physical and spiritual, that these hand made shawls bring. If you are interested in contributing a hand made shawl there are directions in the back of the church with the Prayer Shawl basket. There may be yarn available if needed. Please see one of the Daughters of the King if you are interested in this ministry. | ![]() |
Fellowship Group – Feeding Our Neighbors
| Saint Luke’s new Fellowhip Group - Feeding Our Neighbors Ministry is now underway. An offshoot of the Shower Ministry, this group seeks to aid local church efforts to feed the increasing number of people who are suffering from the effects of the economic downturn. We are feeding about 30-35 people on Thursdays. We are collecting non-perishables such as canned goods, drinks in strong plastic containers and similar items for distribution. | ![]() |
