EYC Mardi Gras Shrove Tuesday J2A/Rite 13/Sr. EYC (ages 12 –18)

The four themes of J2A are self,  spirituality, society and sexuality (the roles of men and women). Our first few classes will involve team building and learning about who we are and our special gifts. J2A is Biblically based.  It is also the senior youth group. In  addition to Sunday’s  sessions, we will have a fund event once a month.  J2Aers are urged to invite their friends to all sessions and events.  Finally, in the summer of 2011 we plan a pilgrimage. We will be raising money both individually and as a group over the next two years.

Good News Bearers/Jr. EYC (ages 8 – 11)

1

Good News Bearers studies God and the Bible through arts, crafts, music and theater.  This allows us to relate to the stories in a different manner in a fashion that is most effective for us.  Every Sunday we join the adults in church in time to share the Holy Communion Rite and once a month we participate directly in the service by serving as Ushers, Lay Readers and on the Altar. The Jr. EYC is the activities side of St. Luke’s Christian Education Program.  While in Good News Bearers classes on Sunday we learn about God and how he loves us and wants us go grow to Him through Jesus Christ, in Jr. EYC we put those teachings to practical use.

In this year’s activities we are learning how to live our Church’s Mission – To Know God and to Make God Known.  Our fund raising projects allow us to learn how to work together and accept people as they are with God’s love.  Our outings allow us to show our church family and larger community how God’s love works so well in children who are fellowshipping with each and others not in their immediate group.  We are looking forward to our Harvest Dinner on October 17th, a Food Gathering contest with the Sr. EYC group in November and St. Luke’s beautiful Children’s Service on Christmas Eve.There are always upcoming activities so please take a look at our calendar on this website and feel free to join us for any of the listed activities or perhaps on Sundays for our Good News Bearers classes.

Godly Play

1

Godly Play is a Montessori approach to religious education for children ages 4-8.  Godly Play takes place in an open style classroom and includes a story or lesson, hands on experiences, and activities that build a sense of community amongst the children.

Godly Play takes place on Sunday mornings in St. Luke's Christian Education Building from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. The children then join their parents in church to participate in Holy Communion.

On the first Sunday of every month, the children of Godly Play attend service in the church instead of going to the Christian Education Building for classes.  The service they attend is tailored to the children and invites them to participate.
